A Nigerian digital artist and writer whose name joins mizu, water, and yokai, spirit. Feelings that are hard to hold in language begin as written fragments and become fluid humanoid figures of liquid, smoke, and light, generated, then edited and assembled by hand. Mizuyōkaii is a Nigerian digital artist and writer whose practice explores emotion, transformation, and the movement between different states of being.
Working across digital image-making, writing, and digital assemblage, Mizuyōkaii is interested in giving shape to feelings that are difficult to hold in language alone. Longing, tenderness, isolation, desire, grief, and vulnerability often begin as written fragments before finding their way into visual form.

A recurring presence throughout the work is the fluid humanoid figure. Built from liquid, smoke, colour, light, and other shifting materials, these entities inhabit environments that range from gardens and open landscapes to dreamlike and architectural spaces. They are less characters than embodiments of particular emotional states, forms that can dissolve, stretch, merge, conceal, or transform.
The artist's name, Mizuyōkaii, brings together mizu (water) and yōkai (spirit or entity), reflecting an enduring fascination with fluidity. Water changes shape without ceasing to be itself, and this idea of movement through change sits at the centre of the practice.
Mizuyōkaii's process combines generative image-making with hands-on editing, compositing, and digital assemblage, treating generated elements as raw material to be selected, refined, reconstructed, and brought into conversation with one another.
