Suffering

Suffering | Anatomy Study A practice in achieving a deeper understanding of anatomy within complex poses. In this piece, my primary challenge was capturing the stretch and tension of the muscles—particularly in the shoulders, arms, and abdomen—as the figure is placed in a state of supplication and suffering. The dense shading (chiaroscuro) aids in conveying the volume and the heavy weight of this gesture. By keeping the face hidden, the viewer's focus is drawn entirely to the form and body language. ✏️ Medium: Charcoal and graphite on toned paper.
