On the fifth of September 2025 I won a painting at auction. Sacred Layers, number nine in a series called Gradient Horizons. Terraced hills out of the Andes, Inca suns, textile color. Five bids, three of us bidding, on SuperRare, under their curated banner. Two weeks later I went deeper and won Healing Threads, a stitched physical about surgical scars, from her Mending Series. I liked the work. I still do.

Three months later I was holding a token by an artist the timeline had decided to shred, and I had to figure out for myself what I actually owned. This is that file. Two artists, three separate accusations that got flattened into one, and a curated platform that never said a word. I am going to lay it out the way I keep it, dates and receipts, because nobody upstream was going to do it for me.

The two artists first, because the names got mangled in the retellings. Mireyita of MireyitaStudio, a self-taught painter and textile artist from Madrid, in web3 since late 2021, full time since 2022. Her public story is medical and maternal: eye surgeries, color as therapy, C-section scars stitched into the Mending Series, seven months pregnant during her October drop. Faith Love, Chicago, spare iPad line work about mental health, in the space since 2020. They were never stylistic twins and nobody serious said they were. The first accusation was about a stolen composition, not a shared vibe.

What SuperRare did

I want this part on the record, because the platform's role is the whole reason I am writing. SuperRare did not show her once and move on. They onboarded her and put her on the house calendar, and I bid where they pointed.

- 19 Sep 2025: Healing Threads, the stitched physical from her Mending Series, comes to me at auction.

Story one: the traced drawing

On 3 December Faith Love posted her own 2024 drawing next to a Mireyita piece with the same composition under a gradient fill. Her follow up, is this literally my work traced, did six hundred thousand views. That was the explosion.

Mireyita's account: she found the image on Pinterest, painted a physical, made one mistake, apologized privately, and never minted that composition. Faith's account: two days of denials in the DMs, a promised timelapse that never showed up. Her manager dropped her that same afternoon and apologized to Faith. Note what that means. A manager moved on day one. The curated platform, nothing.

Story two: the dossier and the ban

By 5 December a researcher argued this was not one Pinterest accident, running Google Lens on her catalog and naming the designers Jerry-Lee Bosmans and Angela Johal. On the eighth, a sixteen work report went to Exchange Art. Original artist always on the left.

On 10 December Exchange Art banned her account after what they called a formal review, confirming unauthorized use of another creator's work. That ban is the cleanest institutional finding in this whole mess, and I never bought a thing there.

Story three: SuperRare after the fact

The same day, the researchers posted a comparison aimed straight at SuperRare: a @posterlad original on the left, a pulled Exchange Art piece in the middle, and on the right Lost Connection, one of the SPECTRA one of ones SuperRare had calendared in October.

And SuperRare? The platform that curated her, calendared her, and tagged me by name in their own promo posts? Nothing. No takedown, no statement, not a word to the collectors they had pointed at her. The listing is still up. Artists in the community said the quiet part out loud, that SR still sells these curated counterfeits, and the anger landed on the gatekeeping itself. The only ones who acted were a manager and a marketplace I had never used.

Where my two pieces stand

I want to be exact here, because it matters. Nobody in any of those threads ever matched Sacred Layers or Healing Threads to anything. Not the traced drawing. Not in the sixteen work packet. Not the SuperRare comparison. The receipts on my token: minted 27 August 2025, won at auction 5 September, five bids from three collectors, the full file archived here with its checksum. The artist wrote to her collectors that Gradient Horizons comes purely from her own process, that only a small part of her 2024 work was affected. Maybe so. It is her word, and I file it as her word. And honesty cuts both ways: smooth hills and neon suns were a crowded look in 2023 to 2025, overlap is not a court ready copy, and no one has published a plate with my picture on it. What I own is a curated one of one, won at a fair auction, attached to a name that now carries a documented mess. Both things are true, and I am not going to pretend otherwise.

What this file cannot settle, I say plainly: whether an unpublished reference sat under Sacred Layers, whether SuperRare ever reviewed the series privately, whether anyone got a refund anywhere. That would take DMs, wallets, or platform staff talking. None of them are talking.

Collector to collector

At the end of the day, web3 and art and NFTs together are still the wild west. The same platform that takes its cut of every sale, primary and secondary, has a very short script for the day something goes wrong. Have a problem? Not ours. No refund. Goodbye. That is the entire customer service manual, and the fine print under it reads: that was your risk as a collector.

I keep collecting anyway. The art is worth it and the artists are worth it. But I collect like someone who has read that script, and you should too. Assume the label protects the platform, not you.
