José Narciso
A self-taught Brazilian painter, born in Belo Horizonte in 1996 into a family of painters, who learned early to treat an image as a vessel for memory. Family photographs, childhood memories, Brazilian symbols, and pictures found online meet in saturated color, simplified forms, and a little digital distortion, and in his process paintings, pixels, sketches, and photographs keep reshaping one another. His first solo show was at Galeria Savta in Brasília in 2021, and the work has since travelled to Seoul, Milan, New York, and Berlin, and to SuperRare and Ninfa. Eleven works here.

Artist statement in their own words, sent to the collector, September 2026
José Narciso is a self-taught Brazilian visual artist born in Belo Horizonte in 1996. Raised in a family of painters, he learned to see images as vessels for memory, emotion and lived experience.
Working across painting, drawing and digital culture, Narciso draws from family photographs, childhood memories, Brazilian symbols, daily rituals and images found online. His practice combines saturated colors, simplified forms, distortion and elements of digital language to explore the space between nostalgia and invention.

Color is central to his work. It creates atmosphere, holds emotional tension and transforms personal experiences into images open to interpretation. The physical and digital are not separate in his process: paintings, pixels, sketches, photographs and online circulation continually shape one another.
Since his first solo exhibition at Galeria Savta in Brasília in 2021, his work has appeared in exhibitions and projects in Seoul, Milan, New York and Berlin, as well as on platforms including SuperRare and NINFA." 5
