[Chae Tongyull] Janus #12
In ancient times, the Roman god Janus was the guardian of doorways and destinies, the sentinel of both the beginning AND the end. In this collection named in their honor, Chae Tongyull reimagines the ancient Roman god of duality through 80 looping NFTs, where each face turns endlessly from what was to what will be. Based off multiple oil paintings by Chae Tongyull and brought to life using Orangehare's in-house production techniques, this series nods both to the painterly traditions of the past and the evolving future of technology and its uses in the arts. Mainly characterized by two faces, one looking to the past and the other to the future, Janus symbolizes the perpetual flow of time and the intersections of moments and destinies.
