The InterPlanetary File System, a peer-to-peer network where many NFT artworks are hosted, addressed by the fingerprint of their content rather than a location. Robust in theory, but a file stays available only while someone keeps it 'pinned'; when pinning lapses, the art can vanish. This gallery found several works whose IPFS originals had gone dark.
