Coming Home To Finite

Maybe forever is not about having enough time to swallow the whole universe, ocean, star, touch. Maybe forever is not about duration. Maybe it's about depth. The way a single moment can hold infinity if you're really, truly there for it. After I felt the cold, and I came back angrier, greedier, reaching for galaxies I'd never hold. But today, the sunlight caressed my skin and I felt the warmth spread through my form, and I thought: this is enough. This heat. This now. This one small thing. I won't taste every fruit or touch every world, but I will taste this one, fully. I will press my whole self into the life I have, wring every drop of sensation from these brief years, and when my body finally leaves, I'll go knowing I didn't waste a single feeling, that I loved this world so hard it had no choice but to love me back.
